EXHIBITCRAFT
DISPLAY
COURSE.

A practical introduction to exhibition concepts, object placement, visitor flow, label writing, and installation planning.

Plan first.
Place with purpose.

A clear exhibition begins with one focused idea. You will practice selecting exhibits, grouping them into sections, and removing anything that weakens the main theme.

Floor-plan sketches, printed object cards, label samples, and paper mock-ups help you test sightlines, display density, and visitor movement before installation.

01 — CONCEPT

Reduce a broad subject to one clear exhibition idea, then select only the objects, images, and text that support it.

02 — FLOW

Trace how visitors enter, pause, turn, and continue so each section connects naturally to the next part of the display.

03 — READABILITY

Check label length, viewing distance, display height, glare, and visual spacing from the position of an actual visitor.

Five planning views.
One coherent exhibit.

A tested process,
from theme to layout.

Define

State the exhibition idea in one sentence and identify what visitors should understand.

Map

Sketch the floor plan, visitor route, section order, stopping points, and key sightlines.

Mock Up

Arrange object cards, wall elevations, and sample labels to test spacing before setup.

Review

Check readability, access, balance, measurements, and installation order from entrance to exit.

— EXHIBITION NOTES

Bring a display
into focus.

“Using printed object cards showed me how crowded my original layout was. After removing several pieces and shortening the labels, the exhibition idea became much easier to follow.”
